ERP on HANA system copy - AFL

Hello Team,

We have perfomed homogeneous system copy as below.

Source system -  SAP ERP EHP7 SP01 on SAP HANA Database.

Target system -  SAP ERP EHP7 SP01 on SAP HAN Database. (created target system using system copy method).

Using Homogeneous System Copy (SAP HANAspecific Backup/Recovery) approac as per SAP Note 1844468.

We have tested the target system and system copy is successful and all scenarios oworking fine.

I havea question, when we we do system copy for HANA, we need to install target SAP HANA Database on HANA appliance before we start system copy procedure. Please confirm if we also need to Add application Funtional library for target system? or will system copy proedure, copy the AFL from source system to target system?

just wanted to seek your opinion , guidance and direction... to see which is a better tool for generated reduced volume system copies from / for SAP Business Suite on HANA and BW on HANA.

TDMS, LVM  and EPI-USE - do very well when SAP runs on Non-HANA RDBMS.... what about when SAP runs on In-Memory HANA....

Do you have any experience or can you advise - which is the best tool/ methodology for creating smaller Dev, QA etc from production size HANA systems

AFL will be installed with HANA installations and we don't need to do anything else.

I have a question.

What is how's the DB schema of target system?

I checked SAP Note 1844468, there is Database Schema dialog step.

SAP Note says "Enter the schema names and the passwords that match the data in the backup."

Is the DB schema of target system same as source database ?

Yes, you have mentioned it right.

We need to maintain the the schema names and the passwords that match the data in the backup (i.e. source system schema and password), while installing target system.

DB scheme of taget system is same as source system.

Please let me ask one more question.

I want to confirm the procedure of system copy of ERP on HANA.

1.Get the DB backup of source DB.

2.Install new HANA(Target DB) and prepare ERP media and Software Provisioning Manager 1.0.

3.Use Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 to copy HANA DB. And implement ERP on HANA.

Is above procedure right?

Hello Kazuki,

Yes that's correct. The system copy procedure will be as below.

1. Installation of target HANA Database on HANA Appliance.

2. Source HANA DB Backup using HANA Studio.

3. Start SWPM with `SAP HANA-specific Backup/Recovery` option

4. Enter schema name and password same as data exist in the backup and enter the backup path.

You can refer SAP Note 1844468 for SWPM options to be selected.

Sorry I have one more question.

In System Copy Guide - SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP on UNIX:SAP HANA Database -, we have to prepare only SAP HANA DB and Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 and SAP Kernel.

I think whether we need SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 Installation Export too.

Do I have to prepare ERP 6.0 EHP7 Installation Export too ?
