SPO or Multiprovider?

Former Member

Hello all,

we are considering logical partitioning of InfoCube by calendar Year. We are already using scenario with multiprovider and one Infocube for each calnedar year (for another project)

Now we are thinhking about trying SPO object for 0SD_C03 infocube.

Are there any differences in query/load performance between SPO and Multiprovider scenario in case of splitting InfoCubes by years?

What are your experiences with SPO? Is it good replacement for Multiprovider (in case of logical partitioning of course).

Thanks for any thoughts

Hello Ondrej,

I have still not used SPO on the reporting purpose, but for the fact i believe that , as per your query SPO should be more effective as.

1. As Multiprovider doesn't physically store data and access the data from the underlying objects, while in SPO it will have the direct access to the data, so it will save a kind of look up /work in accessing the data.Kind of close connection of data.

2. Secondly time zones are effectively managed.

Please go through below link, which showcase benefits of SPO in terms of analysis and reporting as well

Hope this helps !
