Difference between Fiori Apps Wave 1 and Wave 2>

Former Member

Hello everyone,

i have already experience (installation, configuration,...) with fiori apps of wave 1 and the fiori launch page.

Also the SAP Portal Integration with SAPUI5 iView template works fine.

I heared that since fiori wave2> things have changed? So my question:

1) What is the difference (technically) between an fiori app from wav1 and wave2?

2) Is it still possible to integrate the fiori apps from wave2 via SAPUI5 iView template in the SAP Portal?

3) Are the fiori apss from wave2 only accessible via the new fiori launch pad?

Thank you!

BR, René.

Hi Rene,

Please take a look Important Note: Please use new UI with new SAP Fiori Launchpad.

Apps were released on May 2013. (Old Architecture):

+ Apps have html view and index.html.

+ UI extension points were not available. This was critical issue.

+ App to App navigation was not available.

+ Each app had 1 UI package

+ Valid for only for customers who went live in 2013

+ Up-ported wave2 architecture packages have been available since Nov 2013. UIX01EAP, UIX01HCM, UIX01TRV and UIX01CA1. SAP Fiori - Add-on quick reference for transactional apps

Apps have been released after Nov. 2013 (New Architecture):

+ Apps have XML view and do not have index.html in app level. Apps are called from New Fiori Launchpad. Launchpad

+ UI extension points are available. Extensibility

+ App to App navigation is available through Launchpad.

+ Grouped UI packages delivery like GRC, PPM, CRM and SRM.
