Hi Experts,

I'm off to learn SAP mobility technology, I'm currently an ABAP and PI guy.

And I'm not sure where to start on learning to create mobility applications in SAP. Can you please guide me ?

On Where to start learning SAP mobility apps ? Links ?

What is the latest on SAP mobile development ? I understand that there is a SAP netweaver gateway mobile app for SAP ?

Is it different from Sybase mobile platform ?

Any links or any books available where i can start from ?

I guess that's too many questions but any guidance on current sap mobile technology would be helpful.

Kind Regards

Rajesh.S

Hi rajesh,

To develop a SAP mobile solution from scratch you need SUP/ SMP (sybase unwired platform or SAP mobile platform)

You can download either of these (SUP or SMP - both SDK and Runtime ) from SAP Service market palce - you need valid S-user Id to download these

There are different technologies involved in developing a SAP Mobile solution

please look into these

What is the latest on SAP mobile development

SAP is coming with a latest relaease of SMP 3.0 integrating SYCLO, SUP, Mobiliser, and some added features

Check this fir information on SMP 3.0 http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-49476

I understand that there is a SAP netweaver gateway mobile app for SAP ?

SAP Netweaver Gateway help you to expose the data from Business Suite or any other applications like JAM, BW, ...in the form of ODATA (which is a rest protocol)which can be easily consumed by application developers

Once Odata services are generated via Netweaver gateway , can be directly consumed by applications ( or )via SMP.

SMP has many additional features to take an advantage  of  security Supportability, Connectivity,Device Integration,....
