Backup and restore sap cluster server

Former Member

Hello,

To fulfill auditor request and to test our backup tape, I want to restore the backup from tape to our isolated test environment.

Current live setup:

  • 2 production servers with database on cluster mode (server 1 running, server 2 standby)
  • using Disk2vhd to convert live production server 1 to vhd format (OS on C; DB on D; Heartbeat on E)   (D & E is on cluster)

Isolated test environment:

  • Load VHD from above backup to MS Hyper-V server.

==> server boot up all fine, I'm able to see all the drive include DB and Heartbeat.

Under SAP management console, I do not see the database therefore I can't login to SAP.

Would anyone please help me out on this issue.

Note, with above steps, The QAS server (no cluster) is running fine on our virtual test environment.

Hello,

Is your question related to liveCache database instance?

What type of the database are you testing for the backup/restore?

This is Oracle DB.

Do you know why after restore, I don't see the Database under management console.

Yes, I do see the Database drive and folder.

What type of restore that you used here?

Are you able to connect to database directly using sqlplus, What is the status of your database?
