Hi folks,
I Need some Clear Picture on what is Flex and Reuse Mode in SAP MDG.
And also please clear me why finance master alone needs to be use in flex mode while other master data are used in re-use mode.
Thanks
Raja
Hi Muthu,
SAP MDG offers predefind master data models as standard which are as below:
But when you are creating any custom data model, then you need to define the mode of that data model with the help of which it can update the database tables depending on the mode you selected.
Before understaning the modes used by MDG, we need to understand 2 kinds of areas where data is usually stored and they are Active Area and Staging Area.
Active Area: Holds data that is ready to be used by applications
Staging Area : Holds the data that is not yet approved; current change request
Regarding your second quey, only Finance Master data is needed to be used in Flex mode because it is quite sensitive data and you generally use it for legal purpose and transaction purposes as compared to Customer and Supplier data which are usually considered as Master Data.
Hope this clears your understanding.

Hello Muthu,
In simple layman terms in
Flex: The data reside in the MDG table when you activate the Change request.
Reuse: The data reside in the ECC tables when you activate the Change request.
As the name says we are reusing the ECC tables like MARA, MARC etc for Material and BUT000 LFA1, KAN1 for Business partner, Vendor and Customer.
Best regards,
Girish
