Q7_Change Management on NWBC_High-tech Industry PLM Implementation Issues

Former Member

Hello,

We are implementing SAP PLM for a high-tech company which designs and manufactures mobile phones (ODM). Since we are new in PLM consulting and we are facing with some implementation difficulties, we are looking for some solutions here.

Question 7: Change Management on NWBC

We notice that on NWBC client, Engineering Record is on the side panel. Is Engineering Record unique on NWBC since I don't find the  corresponding menu path in ECC. What's the difference and connection between Engineering Record and Changing Number? How to use Engineering Record combined with Changing Number?

Best Regards

Yemi

Hi Yemi,

You can find the menu path in NWBC. You need to have the following role for that:

SAP_PLMWUI_DISCRETE_MENU2 (PLM 7.2)

SAP_PLMWUI_DISCRETE_MENU (PLM 7.1)

You can also put a favorite to SAP Logon to launch it if you know the WebDynpro application.

The engineering record is like an "umbrella" of many changes of different objects. E.g. you can manage and display changes of BOMs, materials, documents in one screen. You can also use multiple change numbers for different objects and setup workflows.

Some documentation:

Engineering Record on the Web UI - Engineering Change Management on the Web User Interface (UI) - SA...

Hi,

Engineering Record is a capability that has been provided purely within the SAP PLM Web UI, and needs a related license (SAP Collaborative Product Development).

Engineering Record is meant to support especially the change request phase, approved changes are then implemented with related change numbers.
