Hello,
We are implementing SAP PLM for a high-tech company which designs and manufactures mobile phones (ODM). Since we are new in PLM consulting and we are facing with some implementation difficulties, we are looking for some solutions here.
Question 8: How to Perform ECN
Customer Requirements:
Currently, customer use a so called Mass-Production Order to guide their plant producing. It almost contains any information that production needs. When a change of material occurred, project manager update the material itself and rebuilt another BOM( not updating the old BOM). Then he or she resend the Mass-Production Order to the plant. All relevant persons get the email. Sometimes, the plant can receive more than 5 Mass-Production Orders which becomes a trash to the plant.
Now they want only the change involved persons to get the change notice and the notice have to be pushed automatically by the system.
How can we perform ECN in this situation? Thanks for sharing.
Best Regards
Yemi
Hi Yemi,
for this you can use the standard business workflow or the ad-hoc workflow (Process Route) to notify only the impactes colleagues about the change.
See more:
Process Route - Engineering Change Management on the Web User Interface (UI) - SAP Library
Regarding the change process the standard ECO/ECR process can be used with Engineering Record and Change Numbers.
Best regards
Tamas

Hi,
sending engineering change release notes to only the relevant persons is a standard requirement in ECR/ECO processes.
Don't quite understand the future planned process for your customer, neither the old process. Probably need to discuss this with you directly.
