Creating Workbook - Template Question

Hi,

When I create a new 7.x workbook I have following procedure:

1) Open Bex Analyzer

2) Open Query and Insert the First Query you want. This should create the Default Layout for you.

3) Insert New Worksheet.

4) Pick a Cell on this new Sheet.

5) From the Design Toolbar, Click on Analysis Grid. This will drop and Grid Item on the New Sheet.

6) Right Click on the Grid to Show Properties.

7) Add a New Data Provider and attach to your Second Query.

😎 Exit Design Mode.

One reason for this procedure is that I have then BEX VBA Project.

Question: Is there a way to have a BEX VBA Project without the standard BEX Template?

When you reate a new Workbook as I mentioned above a BEX VBA Project (Alt + F11) is reated automatically.

An other way is to open Excel -> Create a new Excel Workbook (= Blank Excel) -> Change in design mode and insert an analysis-Item.

When I change to VBA again there is no BEX VBA Project.

Is there a way that end-user create their own templates?

I have checked in my system. I too observed the same behavior. I don't think we can allow Users to create their own templates.

After execution of query or in the process of report customization only we are going for the macros (VBA). So it is possible to change/have bex vba project with standard bex template.

Hi Kumar and Pascal,

The problem here is, VBA project is getting vanished when we switch to VBA from the report. Here, template means VBA project template but not BEx standard template...Am I correct Pascal?

Suman

I could not get your question properly.

In Bex Analyzer:--

You can get into Visual Basic Editor through Tools-->Macros-->Visual Basic Editor

Standard or Customized templates will appear as per the definition in SBIW.
