Cal Month Sorting in BO Explorer

Hi All,

I have created an Information space on an universe which is based on BEx query.

I have a cal month object used in the info space.

My problem here is i am not able to sort it in the standard order (from jan to dec) but it is sorting either based on the value or alphabetically.

is there any way we can sort the month in the format from Apr to Dec ?

Plase help me out.

Thanks in advance,

Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

is the object a Date type in the universe?

If the type is Char then when you configure the info space you should be able to map it to a Months dimension in Explorer.

Hi George,

Thanks for the reply.

But my requirement is to show the month in the sort order but from April to March.

is there any workaround to show the sorting in that order ?

Regards,

Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

fiscal month sorting is just not possible in Explorer. It's either alphabetically or normal calendar sort (Jan - Dec).

Can you please tell me how to do the sorting in the standard order ie (Jan - Dec) ?

Hi Arun,

For the facet, you could set its type

Please use time and select Jan - Dec for the facet

Then its sorting sequence will be ok

Hi Alex

I could not see the option to change the facet type. I am creating the information space on top of universe created in UDT with the source as BW. In the universe I gave the Calendar Year as Char. And while creating Information Space I gave the dimension as Months(Jan.. Dec).

But it still did not help me.

Where can I change the type for the facet that I have used.

(Attached is the image of selecting the dimension of the facet, in Configure Informaton Space)

Hi Arun,

It looks like you are using Calendar year/month instead of month

So the value should be like YYYY MM

For that case, as I checked with SAP, for text, it cannot supported. You need to use numeric type like 2014.04, etc

If you want to have the correct sort sequence, please try HANA or BWA (BWA must work)
