  • Create wage type catalog, the system copies all the characteristics belonging to the wage type you are copying. This also applies to the wage type permissibility for an infotype.
  • SAP uses the wage type group concept to group wage types that have similar characteristics with regard to payroll Examples of wage type groups:

                . 0008 - Basic Pay

                . 0015 - Addl Payments

                . 2010 - Remuneration Info

Thanks

Dear llija,

These were the most predominant factor for Payroll. Though there are lots to explain on these factors, I had just highlighted on important aspect, by which you can have an idea on what is it all about in creating a wage type.

Wage Type Group(T-code:PU96) : Combination of all the Wage types which are to be populated in the particular infotype. Say for instance: 0008 Basic Pay Infotype has a group of Wage types clubbed together which helps to get populated during the creation of Basic Pay 0008 infotype. Which means, only these particular wage types will appear in 0008.

Wage Type Catalog(OH11) :  Here, we copy the Primary Wage type and name it according to the customer specific requirements. All the custom wage type should be copied from the standard model wage type.

Wage Type Model (Table : V_T539A): This Wage type model is created in order to make the wage types get defaulted in 0008 Basic Pay infotype using the LGMST Feature. Where, LGMST feature ends with the return value as No:of Enterable Wage types / Wage Type Model.

Hope this brief information gives you a clear understanding on Wage Type concept.

Hi,

Wage type group: If we have to give certain wage types under one infotype say under IT 0015 then we assign those wage types under one group Ex: bonus and salary advance two different wage types come under infotype 0015 are grouped together.

Wage type model: We default some wage types for certain infotypes just like LGMST feature using wage type model, we use it in Indian payroll.

Both wage type group and model help us to default wage type to one infotype based on one employee group or subgroup or personnel area or sub area or country grouping.

Wage type catalog: We create custom wage type by copying all the features and characteristics of a standard wage type

Hi Ilija

Wage types in General Are of 3 types:

1. Model Wagetypes - (Dialog Wagetypes, Primary Wagetypes, Customer Wagetypes). These wagetypes which are defined based on the company requirement & they are the standard wagetypes defined by SAP and they can be called as Model wage types like MJ90, MJ* series.  we need to copy those wage types & make our own wage types are per the requirement.

2. Secondary OR Technical Wagetypes. The system defines their values & these Wage types are not a Part of Employee Masterdata, these starts with a slash (\) before the number.

Check this link for wagetype characteristics.
