Experts -- I'm curious if anyone has encountered issues with longer running exports to excel from Web Analyzer after they upgraded to BW 7.3 and/or migrated to BW HANA?
We have encountered a very elusive issue with our users running into this issue where the export either hangs or returns a series of error messages. OSS has not been of help as the issue is unable to be consistently reproduced.
If you have any thoughts or ideas please feel free to contribute.

We faced the simillar issue after BW7.4 upgrade for BPC reports taking more time. Issue with the tempfolders creating too many files blocking the systems. This is for microsoft application.
SAP informed that is a microsoft issue and raise to them.. what is the system configuration on which users are executing the report.
Please try to run the same on a high configuration system. If it works then you have to provide a citrix access to users and ask them to run with that link

Hi Justin, we are using earliee MS BPC and now SAP BPC... reports in MS BPC are too fast and same output in SAP BPC is very slow .SAP told that we have to contact microsoft as EPM is built on it and asked to upgrade to SAP 7.4 SP4. We are on now SP3 and a note to implement so that SAP , microsoft integration is faster.

Can you please describe what you mean by "export"? Is this a WAD report that the user then manually exports to MS Excel? What are those error messages?
You should check the number of cells (not rows: cells) returned, as I believe the default should be less than half a million. Are there hierarchies in that report?

Hey Sebastien - Thank you for the response. I work with Justin and can provide the additional information here:
By export what we mean is that users running BEx reports from our web portal are clicking on the 'Export to Excel' button and it is taking an extremely long time. This is happening even when the report result set is relatively small. We never had any issue prior to the upgrade.
There have been a few error messages reported, but this "Open Dialog" error is the most frequent.
We are very familiar with the 500,000 cell limit and these error are taking place on report output well below that limitation.
These reports do not use hierarchies.
Prior to 7.3 we were using 7.0 EP1 SP7

What does the portal log show?
Also, which SP are you at in 7.3? Check if OSS note 1682325 is applicable for your system.

Both our BW system and Portal are running NW 7.31 SP7 so the note (which is for NW 7.31 SP4) does not apply.
As for the portal log it is attached.
