Not able to connet to server from IDT

Not able to connect to server from IDT. Getting following error message.

Using BO 4.1 sp2

Error:

Failed to log on host "server:6400", user "xxxx", Could not reach CMS 'server:6400'. Specify the correct host and port and check for network issues. (FWM 20030)

Cause of Error

Server:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003)

I am able to login to UDT and BI launch pad with the same server details and same credentials.

Hello,

are you trying all the three methods (IDT, UDT and BI LP) from the BI Server or from a Client Workstation?

I am trying from the BI Sever.. dev environment.

I am able to login from other systems but not from my laptop

Well, if the system is available and you use the same user every time, it is definitely a network/firewall-issue. If it occurs only on your laptop, I assume you use WLAN, then the firewall between access point and BO-Server might block you off.

Yes its a firewall issue. When i disable my network firewall i am able to login.

are you talking about a home computer setup or office, you typically don't want to disable the firewall, you may want to open 6400 port to allow communication.

Hi

If we disable the firewall , it will be vulnerable to attack which makes your system unsecure,

there is alternative way with out disabling the firewall ,

goto to advanced settings in firewall

Create a new rule in Inbound Rules and click on custom and add the ports 6400,8080, and add the ip address of the BO server

step 2 :

goto the below path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

open the host file and add

ip address BO server system name  (Note : ip address -BO Server ipaddress)

Now open IDT and enter BO Server Name:6400 and user credentials and open the application
