MDM Intermittent Server Crash

Former Member

Hi All,

We are on MDM 7.1 SP11 running in HPUX. We are experiencing intermittent crash of MDS service.

The system is available but the repositories are stopped.

Within timeframe of crash, only the daily archiving of repositories are running.

Some of the repositories gets completed but some of them are corrupted or no archive are generated.

From the nohup.out logs we see that the mds-r service is getting killed and afterwards it is started:

Ending: /usr/sap/SID/MDS40/exe/mds-r (rc=139)

Starting: /usr/sap/SID/MDS40/exe/mds-r

From the core dump, we get the following:

Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

SEGV_ACCERR - Invalid Permissions for obj

We have implemented resource limits as per recommended note: Note 1541213.

Is there a parameter or config where the mds-r service is set to automatically restart?

I've been reading on the Autostart parameter. However, we don't have it maintained in our profile.

Thanks a lot,

Jen

Dear customer,

This is Ahmad from MDM Development team.

Could you please check whether the issue is with memory consuming either by MDM Server or other processes which could cause MDM Server to crash.

If the issue is related to memory you can find memory allocation error in MDM log files.

Best regards,

Ahmad
