Wow, 5 questions in 1 is very hard to answer.

Everybody in this thread has answered your first question so I'll stick to that one.

Follow the standard installation guide for ERP 6.0 EHP7 and, asked for, enter the export files of IDES instead of the standard ones.

Since EHP7 is based on NetWeaver 7.40 you will need SWPM for releases above 7.0 (should not stard with 70SWPMxxxx).

That's it!

Hi Tomas

Good day Tomas, I'm facing difficultly in installing IDES ECC 6.0 EHP7. I manage to download the Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 (SWPM10SPXX*.SAR) and manage to extracted it. After the extraction I found the sapinst.exe and executed the file. But its showing as follow:-

Please help me.

FYI:- I downloaded IDES ECC 6.0 EHP7 form sapmarketplace.

Looking forward for your reply.

Thanks in advance.

You really need to read the installation guide in order to perform the installation.

Under http://service.sap.com/instguides you will find installation guides for all SAP products.

E g, the main page for ERP 6.0 EHP7 is:

https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000002672&_EVENT=DISPLAY&_SCENARIO=0110003...

E g to install EHP7 of ERP 6.0 you have to get the SWPM installation guide for your OS and DB.

https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000828172012

Then, there are ERP specific things as well.

Hi Tomas

Thanks for the reply. I want to ask whether we need to download SAP Netweaver separately or its included in IDES ECC 6.0 EHP7?

Looking forward for your reply.

Hi,

Under "IDES version" you will find the kernel and the export-dvd's and that is pretty much what you need. Besides that, you only need the manuals and the SWPM.

Under "NetWeaver" you can will find additional components like Java and SAP ContentServer.

You will also find the NetWeaver Export DVDs there (for a pure NetWeaver installation), but that is not needed in you case.

Please read through the complete thread and I think most of you questions will be answered.

Hi all

the question posed by Gowri is perfectly valid....

Did anyone actually performed the installation with SWPM? Which version did you use from the 2 available? From what i have seen the option for sap 740...is offered only in SWPM10SPXX*.SAR.

Can someone (who actually did it ) confirm??? That would be some help...

Also from what i have seen in swpm...there are many separate options:one for sap net 740...another for sap ehp7 abap etc... That means we need to go with 2 installations(??) : first sap net 740 and then after finishing it go with the ehp7 installation?

If somebody who actually did it could help that would be a great help...

Also i would like to mention that remembering older versions and how it used to be is quite irrelevant since it is more than obvious that the sapinst.exe file that used to be included in the old installations no longer exists...(please no offense to be taken) but it would be good to focus on the ehp7 only...

Thank you in advance...

Hi,

As you say, it's a matter of confusion about how it was and how it's done today.

Before, it was called the Master DVD. Today it's called SWPM.

sapinst.exe is still used but is now included in the SWPM-package (SAR-file).

When it comes to IDES or Standard installation, it does not matter.

If you want to install ERP 6.0 EHP7, Standard OR IDES you install "ERP 6.0 EHP7" and supply the export-directories of your choice. EHP7 is based on NetWeaver 7.40 so it's included in the installation. Just follow the installation guides of "ERP 6.0 EHP7".

The big difference is that you do not need to do all of the after-installation tasks since the system is delivered with a standard client 800 and already configured. Here you need to read the IDES guidelines.

Hi Pan,

We are talking about IDES installation, that is a special one. Now all the installations are done with SWPM* or 70SWPM*, but there is an exception with IDES installation in last versions of it, for example EHP5 ECC 6.0 or EHP6 ECC 6.0. You can check that the Inst. Master DVD are there in SMP:

My Company's Application Components" My Company's Software" IDES SOLUTIONS" IDES DI/MILL PRODUCTS 2011 -> 51042208_1, 51042208_2 and 51042208_3

or

My Company's Application Components" My Company's Software" SAP ERP" SAP ERP ENHANCE PACKAGE" EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 -> IDES Version -> 51042263_13 BS7i2011 Installation Master Windows Server on x64 64bit

In the ECC 6.0 EHP7 seems to be changed.

Gowri, have you tried the solution given by

Former Member

As mentioned before, you can read all about it in SAP Note: 2012989 - IDES ERP 6.0 incl EHP7

Under point "6. Installation":
Please use the standard installation Guide to install the IDES system.

The Installation procedure is more or less identical to the standard installation.

Thanks Tomas, I think you are right.

Tomas yes you are totally correct...The installation procedure is described as identical to a ehp7 productive system...as mentioned in sapnote..

i was wondering if somebody could share some hints and tips regarding the installation procedure that could help the others.

Thank you both (Tomas and Martina...) for your comments

Dear Tomas,

I'm also going to instal IDES ERP 6.0 EHP7 and cannot find proper SPM.

I used both SPM's:

1. SPM from package: 70SWPM10SP05_5-20009707

here there is no any option to select EHP7 ERP6.0 installation.

When I select EHP6 ERP60 then I have errors that kernel CD has wrong label.

2. SPM from package: SWPM10SP05_5-20009707

Here  is option to install EHP7 for ERP6.0 SR1 ABAP -> but during installation I have msg that my export CD has wrong label...

Hi Leszek,

1. The 70SWPM is for NetWeaver 7.0 only. Don't use that.

2. SWPM is the correct one.

Please share some info on how you extracted the export-dvds and you message (tells you a bit more than just "wrong").

Hi Tomas,

I extracted dvds using rar self extration software (windows) without problems.

I have following error:

***

You entered: C:\install\exp\51048312_1 Found the label SAP:::MM::BD51048312_1 but need the label SAP:ECC:SR1617:EXPORT(11/11):*:*

Sorry Tomas,

All Is OK. Do not realised that SPM is asking quickly for second exp DVD.

Means that option with SWPM and EHP7 ERP60 SR1 is correct one for install IDES EHP7 ERP60.

Thank you,

Hi,

You should use the 7.41 kernel. It's located at the same place as the export-dvd's (at the SAP Service Marketplace).

Can you tell me about the collation type for installing RDBMS MSSQLSRV 2012 SP01 CU7 I get errors during installation.

What operating system will best suit for this installation ?

Hi,

The information about the Collation is found in the installation guide.

In the installation guide for Windows and ABAP-only it's located on page 29 (just search the pdf).

It is very important that you read the guide and are aware of all the steps.

You can run on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012.

Depending on your requirements you have to choose between Standard (max 32 GB of RAM) or Enterprise version of Windows. The standard version will do for a test-installation but propably not in an production environment.

Hi Gowri,

http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000002672&_EVENT=DISPLAY&_SCENARIO=011000358700...

Click on download page in the "Installation - SAP NetWeaver 7.4-based Systems". Then choose MS SQL Server and the Abap system.

In 29 page it says that the collation should be SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Your SWPM is too old. Download the latest one and EHP7 will be available.

Have you tried with an old version of SWPM before the new one?
You shouldn't get the option with EHP5 with a brand new SWPM.

Í have experienced that, on the windows platform, temporary files where used despite the fact that a new version of SWPM was used. Turned out to be (in my case):
1 - an old "swpm-log-console" (can't remember the exact name) was running.
2 - closed that console.

3 - removed temporary files (In my case C:\Users\<adminuser>\AppData\Local\Temp ).

4 - clean out the sapinst_instdir (In my case C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir )

5 - started the new SWPM and it worked.

Hi Gowri,

In the version IDES MILL PRODUCTS 2011 - EHP5 for ERP 6.0 the sapinst is included into the Installation Master DVD 51042208, not in the Software Provisioning Manager.

I've checked the last versions of Software Provisioning Manager 70SWPM10SP05_5-20009707 and SWPM10SP05_5-20009707, and I am sorry to say that I am not able to find where you can install the IDES ECC 6.0 EHP7.

I am curious too to know where the sapinst for IDES ECC 6.0 EHP7 is.

Good luck!

Hi Gowri,

Please use SWPM to install ECC 6.0 EHP7.

Following two variants of Software Provisioning Manager are offered:

  • 70SWPM10SPXX*.SAR => Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 SPXX for NetWeaver 7.0x
  • SWPM10SPXX*.SAR => Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 SPXX for NetWeaver higher than 7.0x

For your installation you need to download 70SWPM10SPXX.SAR file .

Hope this helps.
