Hey
I'm trying to use Mail Merge in Microsoft Word, using the Advantage ODBC drivers to link up to my IMS LIMS database software. Every time I get all of my data ready and set, I see:
Open Database Connectivity Error
Error 5019: An invalid option was specified. R.
What's going on?
Cheers
Hi Michael,
Old question, but I just ran across it.
I've not specifically seen this error with Mail Merge, but this is what I've used in the past. Maybe it will help?
(Note, I'm using Office 2010)
1) Create the DSN (Assuming you have this)
2) Choose the Mailings option on MS Word ribbon (Guessing you did this)
3) Click the "Start Mail Merge" and the drop down to get the "Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard" (Assuming you've done this also)
Now you should see the 6 step wizard. In this Wizard at step 3 is where I've found there could be issues.
Click the Browse Button
Click the "Tools" drop down next to the "open" button on the "Select Data Source" window (Don't pick New Source)
Choose MS Query
Once MS Query opens up, pick the ODBC DSN
Pick the Table and columns. At the last step of this wizard choose return data to MS Word
Finish through the Mail Merge wizard (steps 3->6).
