Homogeneous System Copy Using R3Load Export using SWPM

Former Member

Hi Experts,

We want to do Homogeneous System Copy Using R3Load Export using SWPM

We are in planning to transfer

From SAP ECC 6.0 NW 7.0 (2004s) with Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3 TL05 with J2RE 1.4.2

To SAP ECC 6.0 NW 7.0 (2004s) with Oracle 11.2.0.4 on AIX 7.1

We are trying to start latest SWPM from our AIX 5.3 TL05 with J2RE 1.4.2 but GUI does not start and gives error in sdtstart.err as below:

============

24/Jun/2014 19:09:03 Program Start Error:

Java Runtime version 1.4.2 detected.

The program requires Java Runtime 1.5.0 or later to run.

Set the environment variable SAPINST_JRE_HOME to the

path of a valid Java Runtime version and start again.

You may need to install a valid Java Runtime version in advance.

============

So is there any solution to do R3Load export without updating Java on source system?

Or any other guide to do this export.

Regards,

Keyur

Hi,

SWPM is using its own sapjvm and no jre required, just ensure you use the latest and correct swpm.

However, you can refer to below notes:

1943545 - Start SAPinst with external SAP JVM binaries

Hope it helps,

Hi Keyur,

You can switch to SAPJVM first and then use the SWPM tool.

Check sapnote 1907153 - FAQ: SAP JVM Switch Tool

Dear Reagan,

We have already tried that but with no success. We have occupied that corrupted block in dummy table. And corruption is repaired when we fill that table with dummy data. But when we restart AIX it comes back again. And when restarting DB it does not come back. We have taken support from IBM for HDD problem but nothing found red. And also SAP Support not able resolve it and refers to call IBM.

So if we copy DB File then there is most chance of taking corruption to new setup. And I think and hope that it will not be carried forward with export as its a logical corruption.

Hi Deepak,

Ok. Greate.

Can you please explain what steps will be required to install jre 1.6 on top of 1.4.2 and what will be the system requirement to use jre 1.6?

It will be helpful to have another path to use for export other than Nicholas said which is perfectly working with latest SWPM.

Hi Keyur,

You need to download JRE 1.6 and then use smitty to install it on AIX server.

Post this set the SAPINST_JRE_HOME =<path of JRE 1.6>

JAVA_HOME = <path of JRE 1.6>

Check the results .

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

Thats true but we want to export from AIX 5.3 (old Hardware Setup)  to AIX 7.1 (New Hardware Setup). So at the time from export SWPM gives error for JDK version.

So as per suggested by Nicholas we can use latest SWPM to export from  from AIX 5.3 (old Hardware Setup) using external SAP JVM Binaries.

Hi Keyur,

For export you may use latest JRE 1.6  without any problem. No need to SAPJVM for performing the export.

@Deepak

Thanks for your reply. In new system we will install SAPJVM but in source system SAPJVM requires AIX 5.3 TL09 Min. we are on AIX 5.3 TL05. And AIX5.3 is out of support so we dont want to take risk on that.

@Reagan

Thanks for your reply.

We are having new hardware setup and will install over there. You are right, Database can be restored and upgraded to new hardware. But we are having block corruption in existing one of Oracle Database File so it will not be safe to restore the Data File to new system with that corruption.

Installation of SAPJVM is suggested for new system only based on AIX 7.1

If there is block corruption in the Oracle database and if you are planning to fix the block corruption by doing an export and import, then as far as I know this will not help. You should fix the block corruption with the help of RMAN or by recovering the corrupt block.

Hello

We are in planning to transfer

From SAP ECC 6.0 NW 7.0 (2004s) with Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3 TL05 with J2RE 1.4.2

To SAP ECC 6.0 NW 7.0 (2004s) with Oracle 11.2.0.4 on AIX 7.

Why do you want to do a system copy for this activity ?

You can upgrade the database to 11G and then get the AIX upgraded to 7.1

Due to some reasons if this is not possible then set up the new LPAR with AIX 7.1 and then replicate the file systems (SAP and Oracle binaries) using rsync and do a backup and restore.

R3load export and import is a time consuming activity.

Hi Keyur,

Please use SAPJVM with this new installation. SWPM will install SAPJVM s/w .

JDK is not preferred anymore as at a later stage you will be required to migrate from JDK to SAPJVM.

Hope this helps.
