You have to understand the functionality and calculations/logic behind the dashboard first. Then you can attempt to create the same in design studio.

In case of design studio, most calculations you have to do in BEx side. So, understanding the excel model inside xcelsius dashboard is very important. If you want, you can go through the tutorials available in Design Studio space to know how to work with the tool.
