Error when connecting to BPC for Office

Hi experts,

We are using BPC 7.5 MS SP06. We are in the following configuration :

    • Windows 7 - 64bits
    • .Net 4.5.2
    • Office 2010 - 32bits

When we launch the SAP BPC for Office (Excel) we receive the following error message :

The system cannot connect to the
(HTTP://servername) Application server. Verify that you have specified a valid
Application server name, or see if the Application server is unavailable at
    this time.

    Automation error

The system cannot find the file specified. (Assembly: OSoftComLibClient.dll, Object:OSoft.Consumers.Common.WebServiceCall50.WebServiceCall)

We try to register the dll by running a command

    %systemroot%\SysWoW64\regsvr32 <complete path to the OSoftComLibClient.dll>

    without any success.

We also tried to copy the dll from another PC but it has failed the same way.

Please, be aware that we succeed in connecting with the same user from another machine with the following configuration:

    • Windows 7 - 32bits
    • Net 4.5.2
    • Office 2010 - 32bits

    Can you help ?

    Best regards,

    Anne

    Hi Anne,

have you tried the client diagnostic?

As per sap note with 7.5 MS sp6 you cannot use .NET 4.5, last ok is 3.5 sp1 see please 1678822 - Third Party Software Support Matrix For BPC for Microsoft 7.X, 10.X

    Dear Roberto,

    Thank you for your answer.

In a former stage we had .Net 3.5 SP1 and the problem was the same.

I try to execute the client diagnostic but I face another problem as I receive the following message when clicking either on " Client installation", "Administration clietn installation" or Client diagnostic" :

Refresh this page and install the client software

    Regards,

    Anne

    Hi Anne,

3.5 is mandatory for this bpc version.

    It's a new installation?

this occurs normally when you aren't admin of your PC.

    Hi Anne,

    you continue to receive the

    Automation error

The system cannot find the file specified. (Assembly: OSoftComLibClient.dll, Object:OSoft.Consumers.Common.WebServiceCall50.WebServiceCall) on excel?

Are you able to reach the server from IE?

    Admin console opens correctly?

Have you verified on the install. guide if your office version need some sp / patch to work or if they are some notes to follow for it?

    Regards

    Hi Roberto,

First the answers to your questions :

    * You continue to receive the error on excel ?          Yes

*Are you able to reach the server from IE ? Yes

We can reach : the Launch page,

Interface for Excel (but with the error )

    Interface for the web

    Administration for the web

    * Admin console opens correctly ?  Yes

Have you verified on the install. guide if your office version need some sp / patch to work or if they are some notes to follow for it ?     We have the last version of office 2010.

We have found today that the system is searching the dll in the wrong "Program files" File.

We have copied the "SAP BusinessObjects" folder from the "Program Files (x86)" to the "Program Files" folder (64bits) and it works !

It seems that only 5 dll have to be in that folder :

         - OSoftClientDataMgr.dll

         - OSoftClientLogging.dll

         - OSoftComLibClient.dll

         - OSoftCustomXMLClt.dll

         - OsoftWebServiceCall.dll

Do you know if it exists a patch to solve this case ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Anne

    Hi Anne,

good to know you have found the issue and a workaround.

Sorry no, I've not seen any patch about this. You should ask to SAP maybe they didn't notice this error

    Regards
