SAP FC: Archiving of Reporting IDs/Category Scenarios...

Hello,

is there a possibility to "archive" reporting IDs, categroy scenarios,... so that they do not get loaded all the time? The longer SAP FC is in use (we are using it since 2004) the slower some parts get, because all these data is loaded every time.

Regards

Hi Martin,

How are you ?

Which part of the product becomes slow?

From my point of view, if you select a reporting ID, the category builder view should not be slow to load (unless you have hundreds of category scenario).

Hi,

Could you please indicate your type of database server (Oracle or SQL ) ?

You can find the the administration guide some recommendations for improving performance.

In fact, it's recommended to perform regular backups and archive backup tapes.

Best regards,

Siwar

Hello,

For the version FC 10 , the archiving tool is included with the product

For the version FC 7.5 , it is a specific development

Hello Martin,

If you are using the version 10 of FC, you can use the archiving tool .

This tool allows you to archive consolidated data and clean-up the Financial Consolidation database through a graphical interface, without having to run queries directly into the database.

You can delete the following objects:

- schedule

- report

- folder

- reporting ID

- category scenarios

- filter

- rule

- set of rules

- subset of rules

Dear Martin,

Indeed to Ines’s response, generally the consolidated data presents 50% of the total  FC database
size.

The standard tool provided with the version FC 10 and named  “Archiving tool”  help to only archives consolidated related tables which help to :

  • Decreases the size of Financial Consolidation production databases
  • Better monitors the volume of consolidated data
  • Guarantees a high level of performance for the data most accessed by users
  • Reduces the need for additional fast disk storage devices

For more details, you can refer to the FC administration guide.

Siwar
