Upgrading SAP Portal to 7.4 without upgrading CE 7.0?

Dear Experts!

We have our corporate SAP Portal in 7.0 connected with a CE 7.0 Portal as a Remote Portal Using FPN. Few critical WebDynpro Java applications are running on this CE Portal.

We are planning to move our corporate portal to SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.4, keeping the CE Portal as it is. Is it a possible approach?

To be more specific, we want CE Portal (in 7.0) undisturbed (that host WDJ applications using NWDI) and at the same time, upgrade the corporate Portal to 7.4. The setup will be same : CE 7.0 will be federated with SAP Portal 7.4, thus able to use the latest features of 7.4 as well as the existing applications.

Please let me know if this a feasible approach? Or do we have to upgrade CE Portal, migrate the webdynpro applications, upgrade NWDI etc in our landscape to use SAP Portal 7.4?

ce don't have 7.0

it should be ok.

Yes Jun...my apologies...we have CE 7.1 EHP1. We want tthe portal in 7.4 now.
