Hi Rui,
When working on Week 2 Unit 1 I was trying to create a db-tunel and got the following error message when adding a SAP HANA Cloud System:
"Connection failed. Could not connect to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform System. Check the error log for more details."
Event Details:

Network setup is different from one user to another, that's why we can't give a "one instruction fits everyone". For your case it might well be you don't work behind a proxy.
A basic test whether your network connections are set up correctly is to try and load the predefined update sites in the Eclipse preferences.
However, as said, it's unrelated to the issue in this thread.
Same problem here. Found following URL in the error log.
When I enter this URL into my Firefox browser (GET method), a basic auth dialog shows up. When I enter my user/pass, I don't get a 500, but a divergent 405 (method not allowed) and following HTTP-Headers.
So for me it looks like a problem on HCP side!

Hello Colleagues,
I have face the same issue and this modification solve the issue: http://scn.sap.com/message/15135346#15135346
It seems that the tunnel app is not able to detect the local machine to check for free ports.
It is working for me using Kepler and Mac OS X 10.10.
Best Regards.
David.

David, this is my first time trying out HCP. I'm getting a similar issue with an Eclipse DBTunnel internal server exception on trying to add a trial instance on HCP after having created the HANA instance in the HCP Cockpit. I tried your recommended fix by adding my hostname in /etc/hosts tied to loopback, but no luck. I'm able to get through Add SAP HANA Cloud Platform System and see the HANA instance I created and select it, so authentication seems to be working. But after clicking on Finish in the Trial Instances dialog, I get the exception below (anonymized my account info).
I'm running Eclipse Luna on Mac OS X 10.10.2 and following the tutorial from here:
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
Joe

So I tried again this morning adding the trial HANA instance to my Eclipse System tab and this time it went through successfully without error. But now I'm getting a connection error when trying to connect to the HANA instance. It connected through successfully the first time and displayed the Administration console information, but then immediately dropped the connection and now having difficulty connecting back. And now when I try to connect back up it either hangs or I just got the dialog message:
Ports [30115] required by system 'sxxxxxxxxxxtrial-hihanaxs (DEV_*') are currently in use. Close all processes and programs that use these ports and then retry the operation. Going to check the HCP cockpit on this HANA instance.
I wonder if there are some issues going on with HCP at this point or if there is something about my setup? As a side note, I'm able to connect successfully to separate AWS HANA One instances that we have running without issue from the Eclipse System panel.
Joe
Hi Joe,
have you restarted Eclipse? If you connect to a cloud system the IDE is actually open a tunnel connection in the background, basically it opens a port on your local machine that's connected to the database running in HCP.
If the problem persists you can open the Terminal.app and use
sudo lsof -i :30015
to find out which process blocks the local port.
Best regards,
Marc
Hi Marc, thanks for your response. I restarted Eclipse after doing the software update described below by Robert. Thanks Robert for the update suggestion.
I updated my Eclipse via Help->Check Updates and now it looks like the HANA instance is available at this point. However, when double clicking on the instance to get the Administration console, I'm now getting the following error message:
Error while opening the Administration editor
Reason: Cannot open the Administration editor; you do not have the required privilege
The first time I tried, I was able to get the Administration console in Eclipse, but then my connection dropped. Are you able to view the Administrative Console/editor on HCP via Eclipse? Should I be able to access this or was it just an anomaly that I could briefly with HCP?
I tried looking locally to see if anything was listening on port 30015 locally via netstat and lsof and did not see anything. The HCP HANA connection seems to be intermittent overall, but stabilized at this point.
Thanks.
Joe
Hi Joe,
I meant restart after the first connection failed. My suspicion was that the tunnel wasn't closed and thus blocked your second connection attempt.
The HANA "Trial instances" on the Trial landscapes are essentially just shared schemas on some database server, so you should not be able to view the administration editor - that would give you too much power over the server. Maybe different versions of the HANA tools behave differently (showing you the editor without being able to do something vs. not showing you the editor in the first place?). I can't give you an authoritative answer on that, though.
Best regards,
Marc
Hi Marc,
I've restarted Eclipse multiple times at this point, so hopefully that cleared it up. The connection seems to be working at this point, but was shaky initially for whatever reason.
And was odd that I initially got to see the Administration console, but it isn't available now. Maybe it was a timing thing with the instance being provisioned. Was just hoping to see if I should be able to see it or not. But I guess it might make sense that it is restricted in a shared environment like HCP.
Thanks again for all your assistance with this. Take care.
Joe
Hi,

Hi Filipe,
Is there any chance that you hit yesterday downtime?
Is the problem still reproducible?
Kind Regards,
Alex

Hi Filipe,
How did you create your HANA instance?
I tried to create one like yours in the Account page and it did not let me to. Only alphanumeric values are allowed starting with letter.
Would you try to drop this instance and create a new one via the Account page, after that repeat the add cloud system wizard?
Regards,
Alex
Hi Alex,
I am following the exercise instruction in the course SAP HANA Cloud Platform, week 2, units 1 and 2, delivered by Rui Nogueira. That instance was create automatically when a created a new server in the cloud with application name "opensapw2u1". Instance name is formated with my "accountname.applicationname.web".
Best regards,
Felipe Lemos
