DB2 9.7 refresh

Dear all,

I am going to perform db2 9.7 reresh activity on ERP QA.

I have done refresh activity for oracle many a times but I am newbie in db2 to perform this activity. We are using Tivoli manager for backup.

I have gone through http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/dw/data/dm-0911sapdb2redirectedrestore/dm-0911sapdb2redirectedres... (

Copy your SAP ERP system across platforms using DB2 redirected restore) and found out helpful document. Our ERP system Releases based on NetWeaver 7.0(2004s) or higher.

Our source system is 240GB in size.

I have a some questions here.

1) What will be export file size considering the size of 240GB?

2) Is downtime is required while executing export method on source (E.g Locking all users except administrator)?

3) How much time is required to complete export considering the size of 240GB?

As per documentation, I presume that export file does not contain actual data but backup data has to be restored using Redirected Restore methods given. Correct me if I am wrong.

So what does export file contain?

Thanks

Mehul

Hi Mehul

You can go with latest backup . and use the redirect restore method .

No downtime is required for this . export method required downtime.

And your export size will be approx 10 - 15 % less than your actual DB Size.

Hi sadiq

I have gone through the document and I have some doubt on it.

If you look at section "Releases based on NetWeaver 7.0(2004s) or higher"  it is mentioned "Export Preparation" option.

It is stated that

"By providing an export location, all the labels and directory structures will

be created in that location and these files can be used in the target

system"

That means only directory structure will be created using export method and database has to be restored on target system through backup someone has taken through Tivoli or any other third party backup tool.

So as per my understanding by reading doc, both export file and valid backup is needed for system copy/refresh.

Pl clarify

Thanks
