System Copy Based on SAP NW 7.02 SAP ECC 6

Dear Experts:

We are planning to build a new sandbox by using the backup of Production system. Our SAP ECC system is based on SAP NW702 and SAP_APPL is 60504. Our plan is to use SWPM to build the system using Production Backup.

What is the correct Installation media required for this activity. Do I only require SAP NW 7.02 media or SAP ERP 6 EHP5 media should be used.

As per the SWPM documentation SAP NW 7.02 Installation media could be used but I wanted to confirm if this would not cause any problem when I restore the backup of our production system with below software Component

Please advise.

Thanks Experts. we used the system copy option to build the new system.

- Install DB Software

- Restore the Production DB to this new SID

- Use 700SWPM with homogenewous system Copy option

- Perform Post Steps

there are many ways to do it

you can do it by EXPORT/IMPORT or remote client copy but remote client copy will take hell lot of time your network should be consistent  and in export import it create 3 export files like KT KX KO

import these 3 files in test system then u made your system

If you are building a new sandbox system with the database copy of the production system then you may start with the SWPM tool.

You will need the kernel DVD, MSSQL installation media.

You need to make use of the homogeneous system copy guide which has all the instructions.

Please go through the Space Requirement for the same . and also If possible use database Split Option for faster System Copy.and minimize downtime.
