migration from 7.01 to 7.3 sp 12

Hi experts,

we are migrating our existing dcs from 7.01 to 7.3 sp 12 .

we should migrate software components or individually dcs  ?

and in 7.3 , i wanna maintain one track for developments and one track for production server , so that when i do any new development like some report dc etc , it will be in development tracks and when tested completely i can move that to prodction track.

Is it best practise to have two tracks one for development and one for production ?

In such a case how can we move dcs from one track to another track ?

Please help me out and give best practise that we should we follow.

Hi Govardan

If your are integrated with Solution Manager, with help of MOPZ you can calculate the all the SAP components to target release. and download those components thru download manager.

First do the migration in Test or development system.

Thanks for the reply , actually you didnt understood my query  ,

like i have one track named E****PD

having a software component named S***PRD, under this i have n number of dcs , now i wanna migrate these dcs to 7.31 sp 12.

One Approach is to migrate each individual dcs i.e all n number of dcs one by one.  and adding them to new track created in 7.31

another approach is to migrate the whole software component .

MIgration of each individual i know , but how to migrate the whole software component ?

and which is best practise shoudl we migrate each individual dcs or whole software component .?

Please suggest a solution.

there is no two approach...

you just move the old sc to the new track and migrate one by one

for production and development track, check the following
