On a RHEL 6.5 OS with Oracle 11g database:
After a successful install of BI Platform 4.1 sp2 all servers including CrystalReports2013ReportApplicationServer are up and running. Even after restarting them everything is fine.
I then install DataServices 4.2 sp1 p3, Successfully, which creates an EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer in the server list, and restarts all BI services. The CrystalReports2013ReportApplicationServer fails to start. After a restart of application server and back end services utilizing the ./stopservers command, the ReportApplicationServer fails to start with a very poor log message:
It seems as though the only command line parameters that now exist, which seem odd are:
-loggingPath /home/boe42/sap/sap_bobj/logging/
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
So I put on -trace and restarted only to see an extremely unhelpful log message:

Ok,
Check on CMC if Crystal reports servers are running, if not, please see the followin notes:.
1612745 - Crystal Reports RAS server fails to start in SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform (BI) 4.0
1985362 - BI 4.0 - RAS stuck in "Starting" mode
CR and Linux are having issues. because crystal reports for enterprise needs some windows stuff.
In the note 1985362 SAP provides a fix that make some zombie process that simulate windows registry
Create a new CR2013RAS Server and check its status.
Ideally it should start.

Hi Nick,
You might like to have a look at KB article: 1985362.
It looks similar to the issue what you are facing.
Also there is some compatibility issue in Data Service 4.2 SP1 patch(0-3) with BI 4.1 SP02
Kindly refer Kbase article: 2014407 and try the resolution steps if the other note doesn't fix your issue.
Regards,
Tanveer
