#Syntax while opening report instance

Hello Everyone,

Since yesterday, we are facing an issues while viewing a Web Intelligence Report instance, we are getting #Syntax message as below.

This behavour is few instances of a report and rest other instances shows data properly. Currently I have noticed this behaviour with 2 to 3 reports.

Additionally, I am able to open those problmatic instances in WebI Rich Client, but not working in BI-launchpad.

Could some guide on why this is happening with historical instances?

Environment Details:

Product Version: SAP BI 4.0 SP6

Deployment: 4 Node Cluster

Server OS: Windows Server 2008 (x64)

CMS DB: Oracle 10g

Affected Report Type: Web Intelligence

Reporting Data Source: SAP BW (BICS)

Thanks,

Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

what do you mean by opening Report instances in WEBI Rich client?

Are you opening a report instance in WRC?

Is this issue occuring when you open a report instance and then refresh it in BI Launchpad?

If yes, Does the issue occurs when viewing/refershing the report?

do you have merge dimensions in the reports?

Hi Tanveer,

Thanks for the reply.

Initailly we thought that the report's problematic instance might have corrupted.  So, just to rule-out this possibility we went to the FileStore on BO server and opened that problematic instance in WRC. As a result it has shown expected data in it. [It means instance is not corrupted]

We have also seen this issue while viewing the report on demand only when data source is not available [for some weekly maintainance].

As per my understanding, we do not require source system active while viewing historical instance.

But the strange thing here is, other instances of the same report are working and only few instances are showing this behaviour.

Could you please suggest?

Regards,

Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

Have you tried changing the viewer in BI Launchpad for WEBI reports?

Does the same issue occurs for all view types?

Tanveer
