Dear Sir,
I want to prepare component from two alternative materials , Is it any provision in SAP for that.
EX :- I want to Prepare Mat. X from Mat. A or Mat. X from Mat. B.
By two alternative way, I know to create BOM for Mat. X with Usege 1 from A and BOM for Mat. X with Usege 2 from B But how it works?
How MRP will run if Finish Comp. of Y is to be prepared from Mat. X . , So what will be the output .
Thanks & regards,

Hello Patel,
For your requirement create two BOM
1. BOM -1
Usage 1,
Alternative 1,
Material X (HLAB)
Material A (ROH)
2. BOM -2
Usage 1,
Alternative 2,
Material X (HLAB)
Material B (ROH)
For finished product maintain the BOM
Usage 1
Alternative 1
Material X(HALB)
For finish material “Y”, maintains the production version in MRP4 View or C223
Create two production versions with alternative BOM (1 or 2) and Routing
After run MRP system create planned order with respect the production version
Please get back to us in case of any issue
I hope this information helpful to you

Hi Ashit
The procedure is very simple and you can learn by yourself if you try.
You can also search for "how to create a production version" on old threads or even on google.
You will find, for example, the thread and documentation below:
Production Version - Repetitive Manufacturing (PP-REM) - SAP Library
Please do some research and try by yourself before asking question on the thread.

Hi Ashit,
It seems you want some thing like the buyers to decide what component (X/Y) they want in the final production.
This can be achieved with variant configuration.
I suggest you google for "variant configuration" as this is a vast topic and cant be explained in just one reply.
Thanks and regards,

Hi,
Pl create the two alterater BOM's with different components and create the two production versions and attach these BOMs production versions. Arrange the quota % for the productions versions. Basend on this quota percentage system will generate the MRP.

Hello Ashit
Production versions are created on transaction C223.
You can distribute the percentage using a quota arrangement. See the following note for more details:
http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1508647
Another possibility is, instead of creating two different BOMs, to create only one BOM with alternative items. Check the following link for more details:
Alternative Items in an Alternative Item Group - BOMs (PP-BD-BOM) - SAP Library
