VSF and planned orders same day

Hello,

When running MD04, forecast (VSF) and planned orders are landing on the same day. This is causing confusion for the users.  Is there a setting that's causing this to happen? We are using checking rule PP. Should we be using A instead?  The planned order should actually be showing up before the forecast because we don't want the inventory to show negative from the forecast.   Any  help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi MZ,

You can maintain the Safety time/act.cov. field in the Material Master MRP2 view.

Safety time (in workdays)

If you define a safety time, the requirements in MRP are brought
forward on the time axis by the number of workdays you define here.

So try to enter 1 day and you will see that the MRP will create the planned orders starting 1 day before the VSF.

Kind Regards,

Mariano

That didn't seem to work for Novem ber. I made the value 14 days so it would bring it in by 14 days but it looks like it didn't change.  Please see screen shot. Shouldn't the November 7 planned order be  pushed back to  10/24? We are using planning calendar, every 2nd week on Fridays.

Thank you.

Hi Marianne

As I mentioned before, the planned order basic finish date should match the requirement data.

If you open your planned order you will observe that the basic start date was calculated according to the in house production time, as explained on the link.

Hi Marianne,

Have you also maintained the Safety Time indicator = 2?

E.g.:

Hi MZ

On the standard MRP process, the planned order basic finish date will generally match the requirement date.

Check this document which explains the scheduling in more detail:

Backward Scheduling for In-House Production - Material Requirements Planning (PP-MRP) - SAP Library
