Hi,
We have a requirement to create a new plant in the system.
For this, we are copying the existing plant as reference and creating a new plant. This new plant is going to be 200 kms away from the plant that we are copying. Now, we are creating a new shipping point by copying the existing shipping point. However, all the other config like Transportation zone, route determination are going to remain the same.
My concern is since we have the new plant 200 kms away from the copied plant - Still the existing route setup can be used ?
Regards
Hi,
In SAP Route indicate the path from where the material moves from one place to another. And as you mentioned that your new plant is alomost 200 km. away, it means logically you should create a different set of Routes. However system will not stop you in using the same set of route which you are using for the first plant, you will have to use the same set of Transportation Zones as in case of first plant.
Routes are normally also used for detemining Freight also, and in your case the plants are 200 km apart, so I hope the Freight will not be same. In that case you have to use some other fields for determination of freight.
Thanks and regards,

It will be client specific.
what was the departure zone and destination zone for your current Route??
the same can be OK for new plant too--ask your client.
Currently--where will you add this route into sales order level or delivery level (redetermination at delivery level)??
Is your client having activation of LE-Module.
Are you clubbing these deliveries into your shipments for the current processes...(In transportation chain--you will add no.of deliveries based on requirements with common route)
Pl update..
Sorry to ask no.of questions--hope you got my point here.

This has to be decided by you and the client. Also since you have indicated that it would be 200kms away from the existing plant, ideally, you should have one more route for that newly created plant. By the way, what is the significance of route from Business point of view? Is it being considered for freight calculation?
