Hi,
I installed MaxDB Studio 7.9.0.8 on my PC, but I cannot connect to any server or database.
Any suggestions how this can be solved ?
Thanks,
Werner

Hi Deepak,
when starting Studio everything looks fine, but when I choose My Landscape, Servers and add a server name in the box I got immediately the error message:
User management exception: Unknown host
servername:7210 [servername], -709
But a telnet servername 7210 works fine !
It's the first time using MaxDB Studio and I'm also not very familiar with MaxDB.
Regards,
Werner
Hi Werner,
On the MaxDB database host please check whether X-server is running or not.
You can start the X_server using the command
x_server start/ stop
Refer documentation http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Glossary -> X Server

Hi Deepak,
are you really sure that my Studio on PC requires that x_server is running in the remote database located on a Linux host.
Acctualy the x_server is running on port 7299.
Due to the error message I don't think that Studio does even try to connect to the remote server.
Please be aware of my configuration, I installed MaxDB Studio on my PC without MaxDB database software. The databases are installed on a remote Linux server, which I can only reach by tunneling the connection via putty.
but the connection itself works, which was verified by telnet with port 7210.
I read something, that MaxDB Studio cannot run without any local database. Is this true ?
Thanks.
Regards,
Werner

X-server should be running on Linix host.
In Database studio while connecting please use port 7299.

Hi Deepak,
sorry, I'm a MaxDB newbie but I got only errors when running this command.
Do you perhaps mean xuser list ?
For that I got:
sdb@defrdb1011:/opt/sdb/global/programs/bin$ xuser list
Warning: Error reading xuser entry 0: xuser-file does not exist
Warning: Error reading xuser entry 1: xuser-file does not exist
Warning: Error reading xuser entry 2: xuser-file does not exist
Regards,
Werner
