Hi
There are some pre-requisite authorizations to access SAP BW data.

For performance point of view, you can define all the logic’s,business rules and predefined time-periods at Bex Query level.
And restrict and protects against large result-set of data retrieval from SAP BW, find the below link

Hi Govardan,
If your BO server is Higher version than BO 4.0 SP3/FP3 then you can directly use Query browser for connecting to the Bex query directly.
It has more flexibility of handling data while using filters/Prompts in Query Browser other than Live Office .Find the below link for how to connecting to the Query browser.

Venkat
what is your preferred connection ? are you trying to publish the dashboard in portal, if not i would suggest you to go query browser connection which is more preferred with other connections and faster too.
Using Query browser no prerequisite is required, just understand or practice how it works.
kindly revert for any clarifications required bro!!!

Hi Govardhan,
If you are using the BEx queries through BICS not really any pre-requisites required.
You need to have the Olap connection for the BEx query.
And the Query should have the property Release for External Access : By OLEDB for OLAP.
In Case of SAP Netweaver connection follow the SAP Note :

Hi Govardhan,
Below link will definitely help:
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7946
For information specific to Query Browser
Go to: Connecting to Data Sources -> Connect to an SAP BW BEx query using the Query Browser
Thanks,
