How to customize the UME dialog in EP 7.4

Hi experts,

is there a way to customize the UME dialogs (user editing and self registration) in EP 7.4 or is there a way to meet the requirements below

with pure UME / data source configuration?

1. The givenname and the email field labels must also contain a * sign indicating mandatory fields.

2. The location of a user schould be a drop down box with a predefined set of locations per company.

The user / group repository is LDAP. Thanks for your help in advance

I checked them but haven't found anything appropriate. So my idea was to customize the whole UME dialog, but I am not sure if that is a good idea or even neccessary and how to acomplish that at all.

I have a NWDS 7.3 up and running.

Write an own application using UME Java API:

Thanks for your advice! I thought that it's not possible out of the box but wasn't sure.
