AIX version Upgrade

Hi Expert:

My ECC system (ECC6 SHP4) on AIX 6.1 HA Configuration. We decide upgrade

AIX version from 6100-05-01-1016 to 6100-09-03. I reference SAP PRODUCT

AVAILABILITY MATRIX and notes 1780629,1087498,1972803 and 1137862. We will

do all backup for all system. All I need prepare steps all ready. But we

still scare accident happen. Could you give other suggestion for our plan?

I use key-word "AIX upgrade" in SAP notes and SAP SCN but no more

information.I hope you can give some suggestion that I not concern it.

Hi Jeff

After TL9 upgrade, also ensure Unix team is applying the fix, as recommended per the below  note.

My ECC System SAP Kernel Version (701_REL,64 Unit,Unicode,Patch level 150).I know this version too old need to upgrade. But for system stable we decide keep now version. We check PAM ,SAP Notes and crate SAP OSS. All info show we can just upgrade AIX OS and keep the SAP version .

Just take the backup of database and file system.

You may have to update the kernel and also check Oracle meta-links for OS level compatibility.

Hi Jeff,

Suggestion here would be

1) Take full offline OS level backup include mksysb

2) Check dependecies with SAP kernel and Oracle patch level if any

Post this I do not see any areas which may get impacted.
