UVERS - PUTTB_SHD & PUTTB after upgrade failure

We are in the process of upgrading BW 7.0 to 7.4 sp7   on iseries  V7R1M0

We started the upgrade back in May but ran into a license problem -

We received the license and deleted the /usr/sap/xxx/sum directory

Downloaded the latest packages + SUM

started and started again in August

got a sql 901 in phase MIND_SHDIMP/Parmvnt_shd on CRMCHKEXC

got around that by deleting the primary index and recreating -

but failed again on somethingelse  -

We tried to do the reset but got a http gui error -

We cleared and restored the data library r3xxxdata from prior to the August start date - and
deleted the sum directory /usr/sap/xxx/sum

I am getting ready to unpack the files and
start over however I am looking at the UVERS,  PUTTB_SHD & PUTTB in
the system and they already show sap release 740 and UVERS has an i as putstatus

my Q&A and Productions systems show  700 in these files and the UVERS have a + as putstatus

I have a message open with SAP so far they are looking for logs I no longer have -

I was going to start the upgrade again - but wanted to check if the status on these tables need to change first -

If so -  how?

Regards,

Brian

Hi Brian,

this upgrade sounds like a nightmare ;-(

sorry for that ...

As you obviously do not have the corresponding log directories, I would try the following:

Logon as DDIC and run the report RSUPGRES (if this fails, it is ok as well)

Check in UVERS table if there are any entries with condition

NEWRELEASE = 'Target release of the started upgrade'

If there are any delete them

Then, I would hope, the new upgrade would start and proceed here ...

Hello Volker - hope to find you well -

I did try running  RSUPGRES in dia but immediatly get error

Log writer aborted with RC 1 Message no. TG154 Diagnosis An
internal error occurred. System Response Termination of upgrade phase BATCHCHK Procedure
Contact the upgrade hotline.

If I try to  execute RSUPGRES in background it is looking for a variant which I have none.

I would be able to delete all the components from UVERS since they all have the 740 entries.

Do you think I would need to do anything with the PUTTB table as well?

Brian

Hi Brian,

you can at least delete all entries of UVERS ...

... and then try again ... as you obviously had no shadow that time, it should not hurt too much, that this report didn't run ..

Deleting UVERS was all we needed to start again -

Ran into the original error

nametab for "CRMCHKEXC" not activated  -  which I got around the first time by deleting and creating the primary index - which in-turn really screwed up the system.

Ended up getting Fixed with apply  PTF - and hitting continue  -

PTF= SI53784 REQ
APAR= SE59481 STAT= CLOSED COR R710

APAR= SE59481 SER= MS MSGMCH5601

OSP-DB-OTHER-F/#DBMDSAT-T/QDBCHGFI-MSGMCH5601 ALTER TABLE

Hi Brian,

that is really good news ;-))

So, you were able to recover ...

I guess, you are in the shadow activating now or even in the downtime ...

This is sometimes normal and needs a "good healing" by a consultant or SAP.

Recreating indexes is not really appropiate - but should not be too bad ...

I would need to see the situation and then it is normal, that we were able to fix it ...

I had the same error using SUM 11.3 on a SolMan 7.1 SR1 system installing SPS 12

In my case, these were my error traces, so if you have similar errors, I solved them aplying mentioned PTF:

/usr/sap/ps0/sum/abap/log/PD001029.PS0:

3 ETP379X19:04:10: activating Nametab "CRMCHKEXC":
2 ETP000   >> Name of inactive nametab to read  : DDXTT?
2 ETP000   >> Format of inactive nametab to read: 5.0
3 ETP355Xstatements:
3 ETP000 ALTER TABLE R3PS0DATA/"CRMCHKEXC?"
3 ETP000 ALTER "EXCCOMMENT" set data type GRAPHIC (000255) CCSID 13488
3 ETP000 DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL
3 ETP000 ADD "CHKSUM" INTEGER
3 ETP000 WITH DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL
3 ETP000
2WETP000 19:04:12: Retcode 1: error in DDL statement for "CRMCHKEXC                 " - repeat

2EETP345 19:04:30: Retcode 1: SQL-error "-901-SQL system error. MSGID= Job=194403/PS0ADM/QZSHSH" in

2EETP345  DDL statement for "CRMCHKEXC                 "
2 ETP000  --------------- DB-ROLLBACK() ---------------

2EETP334 19:04:30: error in DDL, nametab for "CRMCHKEXC" not activated

Also doing the Alter table... in sqlutil gave a system error

I solved it by:

sndptford SI53784

LODPTF LICPGM(5770SS1)

APYPTF LICPGM(5770SS1) SELECT(SI53784)

dspptf 5770SS1 SI53784
