A lower OSS note dependent on higher OSS note

Hi All,

Our team is trying to implement  a OSS note, say #12345 via txn SNOTE and noticed that it pops up asking to implement #22222. It triggers some thoughts among ourselves.

Is anyone able to advice why or under what sort of circumstances would a lower OSS note be dependent on a higher OSS note?

Shouldn't a OSS note only need OSS notes that are lower than it is to satisfy its pre-requisite?

Thanks.

Regards,

Annie

Hi Divyanshu,

Good day to you too!

We are trying to implement 1855437, it is on version 1. One of the higher number note it tries to implement is 1880783 that runs on version 2.

Does SAP change OSS number if the note gets a major overhaul? *curious*

Hi Annie,

Sorry for my late reply.

If you will go to your 1st note and click on

SAP_HRCAU

600

600

1612289

correction instruction, a new windows will be opened and it has only one pre-requisite note, that is your note number 2.

So, all is good then

Hello Annie,

A few options for you in case you are still uncertain about the OSS Notes:

1.- Try to implement the notes in a Sand box, that way you will be able to test them with no harm at all to your real system or..

2.- Make a backup of your system before you implement the Notes, that way you will get a returning point in case of any misfunction caused by them

3.- Even though the system is capable of apply the second note automatically, you might feel a bit safer if you implement them one at a time, that is you implement the note 1880783 and check if there is no harm to your system, then you implement the note 1855437. If you decide to apply the notes this way,  use the same Transport Order for both notes is a good idea.

A final reminder, don't forget to execute the manual steps included in the PDF file of note 1855437

Best regards,

Oscar Morrison.

Hello Annie,

This is a valid and possible scenario. Note with lower number can have a higher number note as pre-requisite.

  • This can happen if the version of the note changes which happens when the underlying correction instruction of the note changes.
  • Moreover the pre-requisite relationship depends entirely on the correction instruction rather than a note. Pre-requisites can be added at any point in time and can refer to any correction instruction of the note <higher or lower>.

This should not be problem as such during implementation of the note. In your case both the notes should get implemented by SNOTE.

In case you encounter any problem/errors, please raise an OSS message we will check out further.

Manoj
