Hello Experts,
We're trying to implement a replenishment strategy for several materials within a plant. Kanban will be used for some materials but we believe a reorder point strategy would be best at the storage location level for other materials. The goal is to have the system automatically create stock transfers from storage location ABC and move the material to storage location XYZ using reorder point planning at storage location XYZ to trigger the demand. Our inventory is WM managed, but we believe an IM solution is our only possibility.
Plant: 0001
Storage locations: 0001 (demand) & 0002 (supply)
Warehouse: 001 (shared with the two SLocs)
Storage types: various
Storage bins: various
I welcome any suggestions.
Regards!
Hello James
You can use the functionality of storage location planned separately.
In MRP4 view of material master, use parameter 2 in SLoc MRP indicator (Storage location stock planned separately) and populate reorder point value and replenishment quantity.
When stock will fall below reorder point (according to VB logic), MRP will generate a reservation to replenish the storage location planned separately.

Hi James,
Are you using APO or running MRPs in ERP ?
If you're using APO, then i believe you can achieve it through some Rule Based ATP checks (Location substitution ABC-->XYZ under certain condition and access sequence. A GATP consultant will require to do it. followed by planning runs (SNP or custom program).
Thanks
Vinoth
Hi Vinoth,
Thanks for replying.
We are not using APO. Just straight MRP in ECC. I don't believe the ATP functionality has anything to do with a reorder point planning strategy for materials at the storage location level. We do not want to use MRP areas in order to facilitate different planning runs. We would like the material in one storage type be supplied by a different storage type, different warehouse, and same plant.
Any ideas? All will be appreciated.
Thanks again for replying.
Jim
Hi Jim,
Since this is more of planning process in ECC part.
