Accumulated Depreciation

Former Member

Hi All,

Good day!

I just want to ask a few questions about depreciation being accumulated in a period. We would like to know the causes of depreciation being accumulated in a period for example.

Period 1 - is suppose to have 100 depreciation but has 0 value

Period 2 - is suppose to have 100 depreciation but has 0 value

Period 3 - is suppose to have 100 depreciation but has 0 value

Period 4 - 400 depreciation, period 1 to 3 was accumulated by period 4

What are the possible causes of this kind of scenario, also can this be fixed by running AFAR? or is there another way or maybe a step after running AFAR.

Thanks,

Emil

Hi Emil,

Check T code OAYR.

If you want monthly depreciation posting, select monthly posting option.

Hope it solves.

Hi GSR,

We are using monthly depreciation posting, I also checked OAYR and the configuration is right.

Hi Emil,

Following are the possible reasons

1)You might have changed depreciation key in asset master

2)You might have changed asset dep start date in asset master

3)You might change something else which could impact depreciation like asset shutdown etc

3)You might have changed the properties of depreciation key

See the asset change history or Config transports to get a clue.

Hi GSR,

Thank you for listing all those reasons, I was also thinking that the cause might be reason 1 or 2. For the fix, will AFAR and AFAB be okay or will AFAB repeat run be enough or if there is another way to fix this issue please do advise.

Thanks,

Emil

Hi Emil,

You cannot use AFAB in Repeat or restart mode to solve your issue.

You can use AFAR to recalculate the depreciation.

Hope it solves.
