Integration Gateway in SMP 3.0 and SAP Gateway in SMP 2.3

Hello,

Our technical landscape has a SMP 2.3 (IP addr 1). SMP 2.3 hosts end-points of OData services defined in a central hub SAP Gateway installation (IP addr 2).

My queries are as follows

  1. Does the presence of  integration gateway in SMP 3.0 replaces the need of existing central hub SAP Gateway installation when SMP 2.3 is upgraded to SMP 3.0 / new SMP 3.0 is setup (a new IP addr 3)?
  2. If answer to 1 is yes, then is there a way to utilize the same integration gateway in SMP 3.0 as the SAP Gateway depicted in the ABAP frontend server shown in the landscape option for SAP Fiori transactional apps (non-HANA DB layer)? reference link - http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/ba/f61f533f86ef28e10000000a4450e5/content.htm?frameset=...

OR

  1. Landscape option for SAP Fiori transactional apps (non-HANA DB layer) will necessarily require a separate SAP Gateway installation like the existing central hub SAP Gateway installation in our technical landscape?

Hello Abhishek,

Integration gateway in SMP 3.0 offers similar functionality as a SAP Gateway Hub system. Whether or not SMP 3.0 can replace a SAP Gateways Hub system is highly dependent on your scenario:

In case you don't need to do any development on the hub server, integration gateway in SMP 3.0 can replace your ABAP SAP Gateway hub system (see also option 1 here: http://scn.sap.com/community/gateway/blog/2013/05/27/sap-netweaver-gateway-deployment-options-in-a-n...).

For the SAP Fiori apps you will need the central UI components which are only available as ABAP component/AddOn, hence there is still the need for a central SAP Gateway hub system.

Best regards,

Tobias
