BW instance required for ERP embedded analytics

Hi

Can you confirm for which ERP embedded analytics scenario below that BW is a pre-requisite - and whether this is a stand-alone BW instance or the embedded BW client within ERP?

1. ERP List Display with Crystal Reports

2. Pre-defined dashboards and crystal reports embedded within ERP using BI content add-on

Thanks

Brad

Brad - for ALV with Crystal you need to be on enhancement pack 5 on ECC

For the others, it depends on the package you want to activate. Most start with ehp5 but more are added in ehp6.

Thanks for the reply Tammy.

As well as the EHP pre-req I am looking to understand for each of the embedded analytic capabilities, whether they are avail with stand-alone ERP - as opposed to ERP/BW?

Hi Brad - they are inside your ERP so a separate BW server is not required.

With ehp5 there is a BW inside your ERP so with these analytic tools you have BW-like functionality inside ERP.

Marco - you don't download it - you activate it inside your ERP system.

Transaction SFW5 gives you a link to each of the items.

I think these are BAIO crystal reports. Does sap have newer versions of these?

Read this blog

It doesn't appear SAP will be investing in this area, more like HANA Live

Thank you Tammy. So this means no more BAIO crystal reports are being produced?

By BAIO do you mean Business All in One?  SAP calls it Rapid Deployment Solutions now.  I haven't kept up to date with that.

Yes, BAIO as in Business All in One.

Hi Marco Jaric,

Can you please let me know where can we download the Embedded analytics which you have mentioned reports above.

We are looking for the same .rpt file to download from SAP, but we are unable to find it.

Please guide us, from where we can download it.

Thanks,

Nag

Hello all,

Back from vacation so let me add my late 2-cents here.

The BI integration points and content we delivered with SAP Business Suite 7 Innovations (a.k.a. Embedded Analytics) provide you 3 things:

  • Crystal Reports integration with ALV, so you can use Crystal Reports as a layout option
for SAP List Viewer. This is independent of BW, you don’t need BW for that.
  • Mash-up user interfaces to embed dashboards in Business Suite screens (using Web
Dynpro). Again you don’t need BW for that.

  • Sample reports and dashboards built on top of BW queries. You need BW for using these. These analytics are delivered with the BW BI Content package.

Regarding the content that is built on top of BW queries, you will need to have the BW Java stack to be able to deploy it. So the content can indeed be deployed on any flavor of BW (embedded BW or full-version of BW) but as long as you have the NetWeaver Java stack (with NetWeaver Portal).

Hope it helps,

Erica
