Testing or Checking New SAP BW BI Client

Hi Experts,

I have given a New Client in SAP BI (Dev cleint) which is copy of production made as a Dev. Apart from checking  Source System Connectivity what else I have to check and test.

Please advice.

Hi Tanya,

After copying system from production you need to do lot of activities like BDLS run,check RFC connection,etc etc from Basis End.some times RFC connection becomes inactive.u need to activate it.check delta loads in BW by running IPs.

You need to check the inbound/outbound queues of source system (SMQ1/SMQ2) and ensure its destination is your particular BW System.In some cases u will find some other system will be there in destination.if this is the case,delta IPs will run for long time and then fail.Run few MD and Transaction Data PC.

Have you used the steps as outlined in the note 886102? This is the correct procedure for a system copy, check the scenario relevant to the one you have undertaken,

Hi,

Try check follow options.

1. Cross check source and target system connections

   ECC Dev and bw dev need to have same entries at table RSLOGSYSMAP

2. Try to perform one full load from ecc dev

      Try to load one flat file load

    Try to load open hub load

3.  Try do init load and later delta load for LO extractors.

4. Try to do the same full,init and delta for FI loads

5. Try to run all above loads thru process chain

6. do the reporting and data and check bex designer working function.

totally you need to check total data flow from ecc to bw targets

That can be full load and delta loads.

later you can do reporting and check at portal(WAD) also if exist

Cross verify about units/currecnies -->transfer global settings.

ECC tables and bw tables need to have same entries

I followed your steps and faced some errors in source system connection. I informed basis guy, once I am done I will update here.

Further I have one question, Can I do this entire process using BI Content objects.

Yes, You can do two cases.

1. one content data source/cube/dso/transformations/info packs/dsps

2. Customer (data/custom dso/cube/transformations/infopack/dtps)

One more point I forgot to mention. It is a PROD Client not Dev Client.

if your under test phase then your prod may not be in live.

am i right. if yes then you need to test all kind of test cases.

But why your testing at prod?

Why cant you test at Dev or Quality servers?

Yes it is under test. It is new prod client (there is some plan under my management). I am given this responsibility to check,test this client. It has copy live data.

Recently we were facing some issue in production so we are doing.
