Multiple sheets on one datasource

Hi there Analysis experts.

How can we use the same datasource in different sheets in SAP Business Objects, edition Analysis for Office.

Apparantly it is possible in Analysis for Olap, and of course in WEBI.

But we seem unable to find that information in Analysis for Office.

Our customer has a workbook with 8 different worksheets using the same datasource/query.

She is meeting performance issues with this report.

If she runs the bex query only once in a new report, she has no issues on performance.

Best Regards

Ingrid Husby

Hi Ingrid,

You can add a additional crosstab for a data source by using the Analysis Pane.

Therefore:

- Select the cell in the grid where you want to place the additional crosstab

- Open the Analysis Pane / Design Panel by clicking Display in the AO Ribbon.

- Go to Components tab

- Right click the data source and select "Insert Crosstab".

- The Insert Crosstab dialog is prefilled with the cell that you selected in step 1, so just confirm it.

Best regards,

Patrik

Your answer is correct.
However, our problem is not solved.

We would like to have different background filters in the Analysis Design Table.

If we change in one sheet, the filter in the other sheet will also be changed when we have used the same datasource.

Best Regards.

Hi Ingrid Husby,

Follow the same steps again mentioned by Patrik Maag add one more step in between like below

-Right click on data source select Copy (It copies the same data source again with DS_2) and ten

-Right click on DS_2 and select Insert Crosstab

In this way even if you apply filters in one sheet that will not affect on the other sheet crosstab

Hi Venkata.

We wanted to not have 8 queries running towards the same datasource just because we have 8 different views / filters of the same data on different tabs in the Excel Sheet.

Apparently that is not possible.

Thanks for your answer anyway
