Change ESTO settings for Dismantling Equipment to Warning/Allow

What is the implication if we change the settings for ESTO status for 'Dismantling Equipment' to Warning/Allow?

This is to enable serial number management for PM equipment type. Changing the status to ECUS is not working as it disables inventory management functionality. The option left is to go to T.Code BS22 and change configuration to allow /warning for Dismantling equipment.

What are the possible consequences for this?

We had tried these options. But on changing the status to ECUS the inventory mangement linked to serial number management gets disabled. So the option is to change the configuration in BS22. Can you tell me the possible implications for such a change?
