Hi,sap experts

I'm exporting a doc file in my winform application.

it shows ok.

Then I copy the content to a new doc file, it is not correct.

And is there anything wrong?

Thanks.

I suddenly think of that the "table" that cr exported is not a really "word table".

"table" that cr exported: line is line and textbox is textbox, they are alone, not as a whole object.

"word table": is a whole object, which contains textbox and line.

I wish cr can export a "word table", that's waht the user want, and what we want.

Tahnks

You would need to submit this request on IdeaPlace (http://ideas.sap.com) for it to have any hope of becoming a new feature.  Whether SAP will actually consider it depends on how many votes it gets.  If you find this as an existing idea or if you submit the idea, please come back here and post the link to it and several of us will put the link out to various social media to see whether we can get it voted up.

Hi, Dell

I have post it at https://ideas.sap.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=A5E8DEA8-D886-4250-BA2B-039F7D32FFC0&idea_id=8E5596A8-....

And the idea just next to this, is also a useful option.

Wish CR consider it, thanks

I've posted it to the Business Objects Board (BOB).  , is this one for the Crystal Twitter feed?

As I read the description of the issue, I'd think it's more of a bug than an enhancement(?). Unfortunately, I am not able to duplicate the issue with a simple manual xtab and the report attached by Hu Po displays as below in the CR Designer 2013:

As I read it, the issue is that a "table" in Crystal - whether a cross-tab or a manual table - exports as text and lines, not as a Word "table" object.  While I don't think we'll ever get a manual table exported as a Word table, I think that cross-tabs should export to Word as a table.

Absolutely agree

But the fact that we do not export that cross-tab correctly, be it into a word table or other, the issue should probably be reported as a bug(?).

That's the way Crystal has worked since at least version 4.5, so I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a bug.

Hi Dell

Do you have a report that would demo the issue?

The last report that hu po posted above on 9/24 shows the issue.  If you go to page 3, there is the a crosstab.  The Word export for this does not come out as a table object in Word.  Instead, it is graphics of lines and individual fields placed within those lines.

Yeah ok. I think the issue is that the report is constructed out of individual objects and these are exported as such. E.g.; there is no concept of a Microsoft Word Table in CR. So, an enhancement this would be. Though I suspect actually getting the enhancement implemented will be another issue. But, you don't ask, you don't get .

I'll tweet the idea tomorrow morning as today, back east, most people are probably ready to head home.

Many thanks for hanging in there with me Dell

The report you attached does not have saved data so I am not able to test it.

Hi, Ludek

I'm using push mode, so this is the trouble. How to attach a rpt with data while using push mode?

Thanks.

Is it happening only with a single report or all?

Could you send a sample report with saved data so we can test.

-Hi, Bhushan

I have changed my rpt, using pull mode with data.

All my report is the same problem, the same to "export the excel(97-2003)"

see the attachment.

Hi Hu po,

How are you copying the contents from the Word Doc? I tried copying by moving the cursor to the first character in Word and then hold CTRL and End keys to highlight everything and then paste that into ta new Word doc and it copies fine for me.

Need specific details on steps to reproduce

Hi, Don

Can you try to copy part of the exported doc to a new doc?

Such as just the cross-tab.

I missed part of the data but this works also:

Aha, it's werid.

How about the date before 16.01.2014?

Are they fine too?

Yes, I just never copied that part. But it copied the whole CT object and not all of the info within.

This may be a security setting/issue with Office.

Hi Hu,

What version of VS and CR (with patch level) are you using?

What happens when you export the report from CR designer?

What exact export format do you use? MS Word (97-2003) or MS Word (97-2003) - editable?

Do you export using viewer export button or through code?
