Im new to SAP PM .Wanted to know how external number range is been assigned to maintenance plan.

Hi ek v,

You may proceed as below:

1. In SPRO Go to Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Maintenance Plans, Work Centers, Task Lists and PRTs --> Maintenance Plans --> Define Number Ranges for Maintenance Plans

2. Go to Maintain Groups.

3. Click on "Create".

4. Enter Group Description, From No and To Number (For ex: From No.-A,To Number - ZZZZZZZZ).

5. Select check box "Ext" (which means external Number range) and click save.

6. Select Maintenance Plan category which you want to assign and click on "Element/Group" button.

7. This will display a dialog box where you need to select the Group which you created.

8. Save.

Hi,

Please follow given process

1. Suppose we are using Maint. Plan category as "PM" (which is standard maintenance plan category).

2. Go to "SPRO--> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Maintenance Plans, Work Center, Task Lists and PRTs --> Maintenance Plans --> Define Number Ranges for Maintenance Plans as shown below

Click on Maintain as shown below

Click on Maintenance plan category as "PM" and click on symbol shown in below screen shot to select it.

Select maintenance plan number and click on Element/Group as shown below

now i want to assign external number range from A to ZZZZZZ as per requirement for that click on Plant maintenance Number and click on change button which is on left to Element/Group it will show below screen. change the number for external number range

Save it. I hope this will help you. but one thing you need to check before you can go for above process that this number range is already assign to "Testing Schedules for Stability Studies" so change the number range for that first as shown above.

This will not shown you overlap message.
