Good Afternoon Slackers Cool Folks in the Coffee Corner,

yesterday, while we were laying the table for lunch, my oldest daughter (age 9&1/2) asked me,

"Dad, what is your favourite word  ?",

I thought quickly and replied,

"Please",

to which she further asked, "Why",

and I answered, "Because it gets you anything you want".

And this got me thinking,

what is your favourite word and why ?

Andy.

"Oxymoron"

It just makes me laugh 🙂 The idea of an expression with contradictory words!

"That's a definite maybe"

"Advanced BASIC"

and as an ex Microsoftie my favorite... "Microsoft Works!"

Urban is my favorite kind of dictionary. Hey, we should have some "SCN word of the day" subscription here. Maybe it would finally explain what the heck does "spatial analysis" mean exactly. Does it just mean "analytastic"?

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Arising from that, recall the time Celtic lost to lowly  Inverness Caledonoian Thistle, and the papers came up with the following:-

Super Caley go ballistic Celtic are atrocious.

My favourite word would be "knowledge" because knowledge is the ultimate power for the entire human race.

Quantility

I am trying to keep the quantility up by constantly posting valuable and helpful information on SCN for me the perfect mix of Quality and Quantity in one single word 🙂

Hi,

i love to play with my family a game that consists in turning every word either into XXX-ISM or XXX-ISTIC PHENOMENON.

e.g. ABAP -> ABAPISM or ABAPISTIC PHENOMENON,

BREAD -> BREADISM or BREADISTIC PHENOMENON

NEEDFUL -> NEEDFULISM or NEEDFULISTIC PHENOMENON.

I know its a nonsense but i enjoy it a lot. These are my favourite WORDISMS or WORDISTIC PHENOMENONS.

Best regards.

Nothing ll be nonsense unless u enjoy every bit of it

on those lines there's been a fashion for the last few years to add '-tastic' to the end of words

eg

a great pizza would be, pizzatastic

etc

seconded it's not nonsense if you enjoy it

Andy.

Hi,

My favorite word is Mom.

Even though I am a SAP consultant! I cant show or talk big words against my mom (the word "Mother" is like WORLD to me) .

In professional Life, I love to use the Pirate of the Caribbean words with my colleagues and with my superior, I love to use Army words like, "Roger that" , 'Copy that' etc. Those are my favorite words so far.

in a similar way to the Pirates of the Caribbean I worked with someone who used to quote from the bible, for example in a disaster he'd say thing's like,

     John 11:35

Rofl, hilarious. I already like that guy. :>. I'm curious what kind of desasters qualified for uttering that quote ;>

P.S. "Drop all tables; COMMIT;" Luke 23:34

What is that? "Abandon all hope"? (I know, I could google it. ^^)

@Andy: Did he say it with a grave voice?

@Pablo: That's a pretty cool game. I think, growing up with something like this will not only help your kids with thinking on different levels about the same thing, but also sharpen their articulation. I mean, those words aren't easy to pronounce. *g*

I really like Quantility and Qualintity. Those have a nice ring to them (once you figure out what goes where).

Hi Lukas,

nice one, I'd like to see the Boss's face when you quote him Luke 23:34

Andy.

Lol, Steffi. That quote would have fit pretty nicely as well, but AFAIK it's from Dante's Divine Comedy

EDIT: Andy, better not. Else he might quote Revelation 14:13 (couldn't find a better parable for "being fired").

Oh, sho shweeet! I'm sure she remembers it when she's 16 and is asking for a car.

Since "I told you so" is 4 words, I guess my one favorite would be Schadenfreude.

P.S. Now I finally get what's the deal with the HANA adoption rates - SAP forgot to say "please"! Doh! Someone please alert Hasso!

"Please give me all your money!"

I love words in general. I love talking, writing, reading. Even after thinking some time about it, not one word popped into my mind, that could call itself the word, the big favorite one. I know I use "awesome" a lot, when writing in English, but I don't think using a word often makes it automatically my favorite word. ^^

My favorite word is Good Morning (also related to this as Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night)

It is just because one reason. When you will say Good Morning (even those all) to someone, then (s)he will feel quite good for a while and will say you back with a smiley face.
