You can certainly have 2 invoice for your requirement. What you require to do is first modify the delivery document, by posting pick quantity for say first line item & making the delivery & pick quantity '0' for second line item. Say after 4 days, you can create another delivery for the item not delivered i.e create a new delivery from sales order, as the undelivered item will be reflecting in open sales order. After creating an delivery, you can raise an invoice.

As a rule SAP attempts to combine deliveries on to a single billing document where the header information is the same.
You can force a split by goods issuing on line item and then billing the item, and repeating the process for the second item four days later.
You could also force a split in the data transfer rules of the item category for your delivery type and billing type.
Take a look at copy routines 1, 6, and 7.
