HRA Exemption Calculation coming wrong

Former Member

Dear Experts,

As per my issue, HRA is tax exempted. In INHRA function, I have read in other posted issues that in Input, no /4E4 wage type should be generated, in processing of INHRA function, /4E4 should come and in output also it should come. But in all the three it is not coming. It comes directly in RT. I have also checked below tables:

Housing code for taxation (V_T7INR1)

Percentage/amount for housing related constant (V_T7INR3)

Housing related statutory constants for taxation (V_T7INR5)

Codes for Housing Types (V_T7INR7)

City category for housing type (V_T7INR9)

In table V_t7int9, also, there is only one wage type assigned to SHRA code. But there is no limit.

According to rule, there are three conditions to be checked:

1. HRA amount (maintained in IT0008) X 12

2. Rent paid (maintained in IT0581) X 12

3. (Basic X 12) - 10% of rent paid.

Out of these three whichever is less should be tax exempted. But system is taking into consideration, for example, if run for september, then HRA amount maintained in IT0008 multiplied by 6 + remaining for projected months.

Please help me solve the issue.

Bhagyashree

Hi Bhagyashree,

Could you please share the INHRA function details.

According to Income tax rule, there are three scenario and whichever is least should be tax exempted.

1. Actual HRA amount (maintained in IT0008) X 12

2. Rent paid (maintained in IT0581) X 12 10% of basic

3.40%(Non-metro) or 50%(Metro) on Basic+D.A
