What is the recommended way to export XML tags from Crystal Reports to be used by InDesign?

I'm new to CR, and my team is trying to determine the best way to export XML tags from Crystal Reports to a file to be used Adobe InDesign. The file exported from Crystal Reports will contain custom tags as defined by InDesign. This file can be imported and manipulated within InDesign.

We don't think the exported file necessarily needs to be full fledged XML, we just need the XML markup as defined by InDesign to be in the file.

Seems like Crystal Reports has built in XML export, but this isn't really what we need.

Thanks

hi Tim,

you can create a custom xslt if you're using crystal reports 2008 or higher. please go here first for samples, paying attention to the health care sample report.

then go to your online help > search > xslt. there's not much as far as documentation for this feature though.

otherwise, you can go to the online help and look for xml and you'll see options for customizing xml including "Why create your own XML format"
