Hi,
We are on NW 7.4 portal using EHP7. I have assigned UI5 based EHP 7 , ESS role to end user.
I have followed the pre requisites as specified mentioned in link : Applications and Features for Employee Self-Service (SAPUI5) - Employee Self-Service (SAPUI5) - SAP ... but i am still facing error as shown in screen shot below. Any idea what might be the issue?

Navya.

make sure you are doing all the below in internet explorer 10 or 11 and above ...but 11 is better :-
read the documentation of landing page in SPRO node -
6. Launch the Landing page application from PFCG Role - SAP_PAO_PROFESSIONAL as shown below -
To view the beautiful UI5 Application -
ESS : SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_XX_UI5_1
You can launch the new landing page application using this role -
MSS : SAP_MANAGER_MSS_SR_UI5_1
You can also launch the new landing page using this role -
HR Administrator : SAP_PAO_HRPROFESSIONAL_3
This new composite role also provides the flexibility to launch this application -
Hi Jwala,
I have already done this. Could you please let me know scpecifically what needs to be done. The system alias that i have mainatined is as shown in screen shot below. Is it correct? We do have local gateway and this alias is maintained in both portal client and backend client. Is this alias value proper? Basically when executing the "Overview" page from PFCG in role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_UI5_1 the error "Error occurred; try again later or contact your system administrator if problem persists" is to be removed.
Regards,
Navya.
have you raised a ticket for SAP too? whats the error now in /iwfnd/error_log ? check all the steps as listed in and we defined all the errors and how to correct them. Please go through this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_uiaddon10/helpdata/en/ca/4db2e40e354b368bf2824d5831d244/content.htm?fram...
its not easy to tell, sometomes, as its little complex and can be Support package issue
in the long text it says check note 1797736, it has a guide which expaisn what needs to be done. change Spoftware Version for Model 'ZPB_MODEL_0001_BE' to DEFAULT. Entries in the view /IWFND/V_MGDPIM are incorrect for the services ZLAUNCHPAD_0001_BE. These entries are generated while registering these services. Either you can change these entries manually by setting Software version to DEFAULT for the services ZPAO_SEARCH_0001_BE, ZPAO_STREAMWORK_0001_BE instead of /IWPGW/BWF and to /IWPGW/BWF for the service ZLAUNCHPAD_0001_BE or de-register the services and register again and cross check these entries. View: /IWFND/V_MGDPIM ZLAUNCHPAD_0001_BE 1 DEFAULT /IWFND/CL_MGW_RUNT_RCLNT_PRXY Model for Launchpad Service ZLAUNCHPAD
Hi Siddharth,
I created entries as shown in screenshot 1 below . Now when I execute the "overview" page from PFCG ESS role the SPB page is displayed as shown in screen shot 2. When I select the checkbox it gives error as "CHIP could not be added to your page; contact your system administrator if problem persists ". Is this due to some authorization issue ? Any idea? Authorization SAP_UI2_ADMIN_700 is already added.

look into database table /UI2/CHIP_CHDR following the note 1942166. run report /UI2/CHIP_SYNCHRONIZE_CACHE according to the note. Now please try again to run the admin ui. If the errors you have described still occurs run report /UI2/CACHE_DELETE and try again. do a http trace and check errors in the transcode above
Hi Siddharth,
Program /UI2/CACHE_DELETE doesn't exist. I have tried the steps mentioned in the note but still facing same issue. The reports specified by you are excuted. Is there any other step that needs to be done? Do we need configure some catalog for the ESS landing page to be visible?
Regards,
Navya.
Hi Sidharth,
I am trying to execute it from my user id to which i have attached the role SAP_UI2_ADMIN_700 in both portal and backend client. After executing the report, when i try to execute "Overview" page in role "SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_XX_UI5_1" i get errro as shown in screenshoty below:
As shown in screenshot below , the entries in table didn't show any error and the authorization present in the role. Is there any additional authorization to be addded?
Regards,
Navya
Hi Siddharth,
The error on portal is still the same . The landing page still doesnt work . The protocol issue got resolved but m back to square one. Any idea what should be done next. When i execute the landing page and try to add chip to page , I get error as "CHIP could not be added to your page; contact your system administrator if problem persists" . Do I need to configure this using suite page builder page builder?
Regards,
Navya.
Hi,
Make sure you upload role in portal from backend as mentioned in below link :
Configuring the Portal Role - Manager Self-Service (SAPUI5) - SAP Library
Make sure you follow below mentioned step as specified in the link:
Append the landing page Web Address with &sapui5=true&sap-theme=sap_goldreflection. For example, if the web address for the landing page is /sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/ARSRVC_SUITE_PB/main.html?page=SPB_LANDING_PAGE then after appending the URL is /sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/ARSRVC_SUITE_PB/main.html?page=SPB_LANDING_PAGE&sapui5=true&sap-theme=sap_goldreflection.

Navya.

1942166 - Chip can't be added to page: HTTP 404: Resource Chip not found Please check above note and the steps listed. you can directly test in SE80, or PFCG role, and launch the application from there. from portal you are getting error probably roles or the resource are not assigned. Role structure in UI5 http://help.sap.com/erp_hcm_ias_2013_02/helpdata/en/9d/e4f4e183cc46ea8b5b8a42be9f42c0/content.htm /n/IWFND/ERROR_LOG http://help.sap.com/saphelp_gateway20sp07/helpdata/en/d4/8614377c394bd492edbde3295a518e/content.htm
try checking this note for the steps 1942166 - Chip can't be added to page: HTTP 404: Resource Chip not found Please check above note and the steps listed Also, error you get is due to missing configuration of odata also, have you done all the steps as per admin guide in gateway system? what error you are seeing here /iwfnd/error_log HCM_ESS_UI5_2 these notes are for higher SP level for EAHRGXX ie HR renewal 2.0 FP1 if you are not in that release, you wont see these switches, and its fine for landing page HCM_ESS_UI5_1 this is first needed.
Hi Siddharth,
We do have two client in server .Client 1 is our portal client in which users are created and client 2 in backend client in which data/configuration is done. I checked note. There are no entries in table /UI2/CHIP_CHDR . As per the second step mentioned in note , I executed the request " /sap/opu/odata/UI2/PAGE_BUILDER_CUST/Chips('X-SAP-UI2 CHIP%3A%2FUI2%2FAPPLAUNCHER_DYNAMIC" and it shows different error in both client as shown in screen shot below. Can you please suggest which is the missing configuration for ODATA that is to be done? Should these steps be done in portal client (in which end user ids are created) or in the backend client. Is there some document to do the same(Netweaver gateway admin guide)?
Regards,
Navya
from the error system alias is missing /IWFND/maint_service >test the gateway client for odata service through /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE or thru LPD_CUST, what is the system alias in ECC?. admin guide https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000888382013E https://help.sap.com/erp_hcm_ias_2013_02/
